Shirley Dishong

Shirley (Crane) Dishong was called home on March 20, 2022 at Altercare of Coshocton. She was born on July 1, 1930 in Lancaster, Ohio. She was the youngest child and only daughter of Everette L. Crane and Margaret (Gaspar) Crane. On October 2, 1948, she married Donald Keith Dishong Sr., who preceded her in death on June 6, 1993. She was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coshocton. She was on staff at the Muskingum Valley Scout Reservation Summer Camp for 26 years; 16 of those years she spent as the cook. She looked forward to her summers at the camp.

She is survived by her two children, Linda Udischas and Donald Keith Dishong Jr., both of Coshocton; three grandsons, Joh Eric (Lorie) Udischas of Coshocton, Edward Keith (Ashleigh) Udischas of Sandusky and Charles Edward (Sarah) Udischas II of Coshocton; eight great- grandchildren, Michaela, Brandon, Keith, Faith, Lexi and Freya of Coshocton and Parker and Emmaleigh of Sandusky; one great great-granddaughter, Cora Udischas of Coshocton. In addition, she is also survived by her sister-in-law, Rose Crane and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her infant son, Joseph; son-in-law, Charles Edward Udischas I; niece, Barbara Irwin; brothers, Ted, Walt and Lew Crane; sisters-in-law, Mary and Jodi Crane and brothers-in-law, Robert, Jack and Jim Dishong and sisters-in-law, Margaret Whitmore and Ann Collins. She was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

Calling hours will be at the Miller Funeral Home on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 5pm to 7pm. The Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Tom Gardner officiating. Internment will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
