Michaela D. Elson, 24, of Coshocton passed away at her home on Friday May 11, 2018 after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. Michaela was born on November 30, 1993 in Zanesville to Michel E. Elson and the late Diane M. (Scheetz) Elson.
She graduated from River View High School in 2012, received her Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio University Zanesville in early childhood education. Michaela was currently an elementary school teacher for the past three years at New Philadelphia City Schools. She was very devoted to her faith in God and was very active at the Coshocton Christian Tabernacle. She was a 4-H Advisor for many years and volunteered for the Santiago Project in Ecuador. Michaela touched and inspired so many lives over the past several years during her fight with cancer.
Michaela is survived by her father Michel E. Elson of Coshocton; grandfather Dennis V. Scheetz of Coshocton; a uncle Dwaine (Christy) Scheetz of Fresno; numerous other family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother Diane M. Elson whom passed away on January 15, 2013 and her grandmother Dorothy L. Scheetz.
Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Tuesday May 15, 2018 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Funeral services for Michaela will be held at the Coshocton Christian Tabernacle, 23891 Airport Rd., Coshocton on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jason Diaz officiating. Interment will follow in South Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Diane and Michaela Elson Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O The Home Loan Savings Bank, 413 Main St., Coshocton, OH 43812; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
