Michael A. Mercer, 74, of Conesville passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. He was born on September 1, 1947 in Coshocton to the late Harry and Mary (Dunfee) Mercer. On June 20,1992 he married Janet (Miller) Mercer, who survives. Michael graduated from Coshocton High School and later attended welding school. He is a United States Navy Veteran having served as an Aircraft Mechanic from 1967-1972. He went on to work for General Electric for 35 years until he retired. Michael was a firefighter for GE and a volunteer for the Conesville Fire department. Michael never met a stranger, was a very talented artist and could fix anything. He enjoyed hunting and was sneaky in the woods.
Michael is survived by his wife Janet A. Mercer of 30 years; children, Michael S. Mercer, Nicolette (James) Bryan, Travis S. Mercer, and James (Jami) Ross; 12 grandchildren, Brittney (Zak) Witucky, Bethany and Cam Mercer, Ashleigh, Dylan and Tanner Bryan, Nathan and Alicia Mercer, Kiristyn Shipman, Franchesca Carver, Payton Hunter and Javin Damron; great-grandchildren, Ian and Rowan Witucky; siblings, Kate Whitus and Bud Mercer.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Butch and Virginia Mercer and a baby brother and sister.
Calling hours for Michael will be held at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main Street, Coshocton on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 12:00 Noon - 2:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM with Reverend Phillip Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.
