Leland E. "Gene" Cox

Leland Eugene “Gene” Cox, 96, of Coshocton, passed away at Signature Healthcare of Coshocton on Saturday, September 2, 2023.

Gene was born in Coal Creek, TN on November 23, 1926, to the late Leland O. and Cynthia Elizabeth (Parsons) Cox.

After graduating from High School, Gene honorably served in the US Army during WWII and then went on to work for the Peabody Coal Company and the Blue Diamond Coal Company. 

Gene was also a sixty plus year member of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his daughter Sherry (Ron) Ditto of Warsaw; sons-in-law, Terry D. Albertson and Michael Reiss both of Coshocton; grandchildren Jeffrey (Burgandy) Cox, Ryan (Heather) Chaney, Bradley (Julie) Albertson, Travis Albertson, Carissa (Todd) Rothacher, William Stitler and Richard (Deann) Stitler; great grandchildren Megan, McKenna, Brant, Leiland, Courtney, Dakota, Aria, Kapri, Spencer, Taylor, Katie, Owen, Evan, Kaylee, Bradley, Elijia, James and Leland; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Jean F. Cox; two daughters Patricia A. “Patty” Albertson and Marsha Reiss; grandson Neil Cox.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Friday September 8, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM where funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Paul Schwab officiating.  Interment will follow in Coshocton County Memorial Gardens where Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard will perform military honors.
