Gladys Marie (Appis) Thomas, age 91, of Conesville passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 2, 1931 in Coshocton to the late Harry Lee and Lola Faye (Hill) Appis. She was a 1949 graduate of West Lafayette High School. On July 26, 1949, she married Raymond Earl Thomas, who passed away in 2003. Together they raised 3 children and Gladys was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of the Conesville United Methodist Church. She served on the Conesville Fire Auxiliary and Conesville Council. In 2010, she was awarded the Conesville Volunteer of the Year. She enjoyed flowers; even growing and selling pansy flowers at one time. She was known as a “sweet lady” and regularly mailed cards out to others. She will be missed by her family, friends and community.
Gladys is survived by her children, Judy Glaneman of Dresden and William “Butch” (Lynette Myers) Thomas of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren, Rodney (Michelle Gard) Hindel, Roger (Tracie) Hindel, Rochelle (Terry) Berry, Gene (Jennifer) Hindel, Jason (Amber) Donley, Devin Donley, Chance (Johnathon Noon) Best, Angela Thomas, Ryan Thomas and Kevin (Denisse) Thomas; 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren as well as brother, Dale (Mary Lou) Appis of Brookfield, Oh.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughters, Shirely Best and Cynthia Thomas, son-in-law, Patrick Glaneman and special niece, Lynnelle (Bennett) Hathaway.
A special “thank you” to Albert Kohman, Vicki Harvey, and Don and Vickie Andrews for their care over the years.
Calling hours will be at The Miller Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 from 5pm to 7pm and one hour prior to the funeral. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 11am. Burial will follow at the Franklin Township Cemetery.
