George Schultz Obituary

George Schultz “Poppi”, age 75 of Palmetto, Florida passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at his home. He was born on December 11, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to the late George and Esther (Mainwood) Schultz. After high school, he joined the United States Airforce having served from 1967-1971. On December 23, 1972, he married Betty Jo Schultz, who survives. He furthered his education at Nova University where he obtained his MBA and went to work as an Executive for several companies to include GTE, HP and the Manatee County Government.

George was kind and slow to anger and a loving father. With George, smiles came easy and love was a way of life. Those fortunate enough to spend time with him quickly saw his dedication to faith, family and community. He was seen as a father figure by many, whether they were friends or family. For George life was centered around his family, always deeply invested in his children and grandchildren’s lives. His pleasures in life were golfing, reading, exercising and he was a diehard Florida State, Tampa Bay Rays and Lightning fan.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Chip Schultz of Holland, Michigan, Todd (Jennifer) Schultz of Coshocton and Courtney (Jonathan) Fries of Coshocton; grandchildren, Lane (Paris), Alivia, Cole and Chase Schultz, Luke, Jacob and Dylan Hodgman, Mackenzie and Zach Jennings, Caleb and Greyson Schultz, Piper Little and Finley Fries; great-grandchildren, Maverick and Jett Schultz; sister, Marilyn (Chuck) Pearson a special brother-in-law, Jim Armstrong as well as several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Don, Bill, Bob Schultz, and Kathy Armstrong.
