Ellen Jamison Obituary

Ellen Jane Jamison, age 89, of Coshocton, passed away at Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, OH, on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

She was born in Gambier, Ohio on May 22, 1934, to the late Russell and Lucille (Porter) Scott.

On November 25, 1955 she married Donald Jamison who preceded her in death on July 3, 1993.

Ellen was a mother to her two sons; Mike (Kim) Jamison, and Rick (Linda) Jamison. In addition to her children, she is survived by five grandchildren; Angie Mulholland, Matt (Jessica) Jamison, Kayley Andrews, Tyler (Cortnie) Jamison, and Kristin Jamison; nine great grandchildren, Victoria, Bennett, Allie, Jillian, Carson, Abby, Nora, Noah, and Briggs; sisters-in-law, Nancy Scott, and Jeanine (Mike) Kurtz; brother-in-law, Bob (Pauline) Jamison; and several nieces, nephews and wonderful neighbors and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ellen is preceded in death by six siblings; Bill Scott, Marilyn (Don) Minor, Ruth (Bob) Mahon, Howard Scott, Lela Florence, Bob Scott; grandson-in-law, Brent Mulholland; and nephew Steve Scott.

Ellen was a lifelong resident of Coshocton and member of Grace United Methodist Church. She graduated from Coshocton High School in 1952 and went to work for the telephone company as an operator for 5 years during which she met her future husband, Don. After his death she took his part time job, working for Jamison Cleaning Service for over 25 years. Ellen was an avid sports fan hardly ever missing “the ball game” on television or the Redskins. She enjoyed getting together with her card club and faith circle at Grace. She was an active member of the church and loved working with the SAM Club Church ministry, working in the kitchen and baking for various needs of the church. Ellen was known as a fine example of a homemaker with her exemplary clean home and as a wonderful cook and baker. Her greatest devotion was shopping, whether that was QVC or headed downtown on Saturdays with her sister-in-law Nancy, Deans being her favorite place to spend money.
