Daniel Cochran Obituary

Daniel B. Cochran, 80, of Coshocton passed away at his home on Tuesday July 24, 2018 with his family by his side.

Daniel was born in Newark, Ohio on July 15, 1938 to the late Loyal and Irene (Proper) Cochran.

He graduated from Newark High School and Ohio Wesleyan University.  After college, Daniel served in the U.S. Marine Corp.  He owned and operated Cochran Motors in Coshocton for twenty years; he then went on to become a State Farm agent for many years.  After his retirement from State Farm, he and his wife Nancy enjoyed spending summers in Florida where Daniel was also a real estate broker.

Daniel is a lifelong member of The Presbyterian Church of Coshocton and a member of the Kirk of the Keys in Marathon, FL; where he was very active and past Elder, Deacon Trustee and Sunday school teacher. He was very involved in the community being a member of the boy scouts, fund raising, Chamber of Commerce Board, United Way Retail Division, member of the Coshocton Elks Lodge BPOE 376, Past president and member of the Masonic Lodge, Past President of the Shrine in Coshocton and Marathon Florida, Past President of Coshocton Rotary Club and Kiwanis.  Daniel loved spending time fishing here and in Florida. During all of his year he always supported his children and grandchildren and their interests, such as showing horses, sporting events, and teaching them how to fish.  He was also a multi gallon donor for the American Red Cross.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy (Lightell) Cochran; three children Amy (Mark) Cochran-Barta of Galena, OH, Debbie (John) Brown of Roanoke, IN and Daniel (Raquel) Cochran of Westerville; eight grandchildren Kristina (DJ) Jordan, Lauren Brown, Gabrielle Cochran, Reilly Cochran, Sarah Barta, Nicholas Barta, Kayla Cochran and Trinity Cochran; two sisters Donna (Galen) Smith of Marion and Barbara (Dave) Garick of Orient, OH; two brothers Loyal (Barb) Cochran of Mt. Gilead and Everette (Donna) Cochran of Conroe, TX; numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Joan Whitlatch.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 5:00pm – 7:00 with The Coshocton Elks Lodge services beginning at 5:00pm and Masonic Lodge services beginning at 7:00pm.  A memorial service will be held at The Presbyterian Church of Coshocton, 142 N. 4th St., Coshocton on Friday at 11:00am with Rev. Jonathan T. Carlisle officiating.  Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery where the Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard will also be performing military honors.

Memorial contributions may be directed to The Presbyterian Church of Coshocton and/or Interim Hospice of Coshocton, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
