Carl David Stein

Carl David Stein, 83, of Fresno passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born in Dover, Ohio on June 27, 1937 to the late Ervin H. and Helen E. (Regula) Stein.

Carl graduated from Fresno High School in 1955 following high school he served in the United States Army for six years and worked for General Electric as a Quality Control Auditor for 38 years before retiring.  He was an Elder and Deacon for Renner’s United Church of Christ. He enjoyed farming, designing cars, woodworking, and carving, and enjoys Ohio Sports, including the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, and Cleveland Browns. He was a member of the 1954-1955 Fresno County High School basketball runner-up team and coached basketball, softball and baseball for many years throughout his life.

Carl is survived by his wife, Jean Ellen (Hamilton) Stein, who he married June 30, 1956; children Steven (Heather) Stein of Mt. Vernon; Daniel (Deborah) Stein of Cambridge, Rodney (Stacie) Stein of Coshocton, Holly (Bradley) Bookless of Columbus, and; grandchildren Tyler Stein, Brenna Bookless, Allison Stein, Conrad Stein, Brady Bookless, Andrew Stein, Ayden Stein, Olivia Stein, and  Carson Stein; brother Larry (Lynn) Stein; sisters Loretta (Dave) Mast and Mary Baab; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents Carl is preceded in death by his brother Robert Stein; sisters-in-law Doyce (Gene) Barr, Janet (Guy) Lowery, and Oleen (John) Anderson; and his mother and father-in-law Menema Hamilton and Herbert Hamilton; brother-in-law Wayne Baab.

Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main Street, Coshocton, Ohio 43812 on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.  Funeral services will be held at Renner’s United Church of Christ, 7620 Renner Rd SW, Fresno, OH 43824 on Wednesday at 11:00am with Pastor Jim Henninger officiating.  Burial will follow at Renners United Church of Christ Cemetery, Fresno where the Coshocton County Veterans Council will be performing military honors.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be directed towards Renners United Church of Christ.

Due to Covid-19, we are requiring visitors coming to the funeral home to wear their own face masks and we will be limiting the number of attendees inside the building.
