Beryl Dean Cox

Beryl Dean Cox, 87, of Tyndall passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.  He was born at home in Coshocton County on May 14, 1934 to the late Warren and Ethel (Senter) Cox.

Beryl graduated from Conesville High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy and Marine Corp. Following his time in the service he began working for a short time at Clow as a Safety Director in Springfield, IL, before moving back home and working for Peabody Coal for many years before retiring.  Beryl loved being home in Tyndall and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He and his wife, Garnett, would have family dinners many nights a week, just to have all the kids in his home to spend time together. He instilled in his family a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and leaves a strong legacy. Beryl loved to be outside doing yard work and working in the garden, he had a green thumb and could make just about anything grow. He also enjoyed playing music, he could play most instruments but mainly the piano and guitar.

Beryl is survived by his wife of 62 years, Garnett (Gress) Cox; children Desiree (Dave) Moore and Beryl “B.D.” (Amanda) Cox II both of Coshocton; grandchildren Ian (Taylor), Zack (Darcie), and Jake Moore, Cody (Jennifer) Cox, Allison (Frank Smotherman) Cox and Chyann Page; seven great grandchildren; sister Elenora Seydler; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings Hilda (Russell) Thomas, Doris (George) Slaughter, Clesson (Ernest) Hart, Beverlie (James) Hardesty, and Max (Marie) Cox.

Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main Street, Coshocton, Ohio 43812 on Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 11:00am - 1:00pm with funeral services beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor Mike Jansen officiating.

Burial will follow at Franklin Cemetery where the Coshocton County Veterans Council will be performing military honors.
