Steven A. Johnson, 80, of Coshocton passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Embassy of Cambridge. He was born on May 26, 1944 in Cincinnati to the late Leroy Johnson and Lola May Davis. A big presence in his life was Gabriel and Vonnie Ross. He was a high school graduate and then joined the United States Army, having served from 1962 to 1963. Upon completion, he went to work as a corrections officer for the Columbus County Jail and the Ohio State Department of Transportation before finishing his working years at Clow and later Columbus and Southern Electric Company. In his free time, he was an entrepreneur, he was motivated to start several small businesses, where he saw a need for something. He had a vegetable garden and enjoyed working in it with his friends. He was an avid OSU fan and also liked to watch western and SciFi movies. He lived his life to the fullest by singing, cooking, fishing and visiting family. He was also a member of the AME Church.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Tonya) Walters of Coshocton and Ramon (Karen) Johnson of Florida; grandchildren, Jordan Walters, Josh Arron, Jonah Fortney, Kani C. Johnson, Kwanza C. Wilson-Johnson and Terrell Johnson; also 9 great-grandchildren as well as his ex-wife, Susan K. Johnson, nieces, nephew and many cousins.
Steven is preceded in death by his sister Laura Davis and his beloved dog, Buddy, who was truly his buddy.
A cremation will take place and a private burial of his ashes will be at South Lawn Cemetery with military honors performed by the Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard.
