Rodney Chapman

March 2, 1936 — December 23, 2025

Rodney Lee "Chappie" Chapman, 89, of Coshocton passed away at Windsorwood Place on December 23, 2025, after a short illness.

Rodney was born in Clark, Ohio, on March 2, 1936, to the late Bernard and Florence (Craig) Chapman. He married Vyvian Arleen Hart on September 17, 1960. Arleen preceded him in death on August 13, 2023.

Rodney was a graduate of the Coshocton High School Class of 1954. He retired from Pretty Products after 42 years of service, and delivered for Triplett's Drugstore for several years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Rodney was a huge Coshocton High School sports fan and a history buff. He researched Coshocton High School football along with his daughter for the 100 Years of Football celebration in 1999 resulting in a local publication called 100 Years Proud. Until the past few years he rarely missed a football or basketball game and served as a Redskin Chief several times. He was very proud of his grandchildren and followed them in Coshocton football, softball, cheerleading, wrestling and track.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Nancy Ann. An only child his entire life, Rodney was thrilled to discover the blessing of a sister who was linked to him through a family member's DNA test when he was 85. She made several visits each year and they talked regularly on the phone.

Rodney is survived by his children, Susan (Barry) Nolan, Connie (Thom) Guinther, and Steve Chapman of Coshocton; grandchildren Kemp (Sarah) Nolan of Ocean Springs, MS, Shea (Sean) Fayard of New Albany, OH, Seth (Ashley) Nolan of Kittery, ME, Kenny Cooper of Coshocton, and Cassie Hunley (Nick Layman) of Ayer, MA; great-grandchildren Kade, Kash, Ellie and Madeline Nolan, Jace Renner, Tatum Cooper, RaeLee and Remy Rivera; sister, Pam (Vern) Guischard of Allentown, PA, brothers-in-law Mike (Becky) Hart, Steve (Diane) Hart and sister-in-law Pat Hart of Coshocton, aunt Betty Mosier of Wooster, his close cousin, Jeff Chapman of Toboso, OH, and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and his Windsorwood family.

Per Rodney's wishes, a cremation will take place and his family will have a celebration of life at a later date. Miller Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, 422 Walnut Street, Coshocton
