Richard E. "Dick" Peters

October 21, 1933 — October 2, 2023

Richard E. "Dick" Peters, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2023, at Smith's Mill Health Campus in New Albany. He was born on October 21, 1933, in Marion, to the Earl and Bessie Peters. Dick lived his life with thoughtfulness, generosity, and love, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He graduated from Marion Harding High School, class of 1951, and married his high school sweetheart, Angeline. Immediately after their Smoky Mountain honeymoon, he answered the call to serve in the US Army. Dick served for two years in Germany, guarding the Czech/German Iron curtain border. Following his service, he pursued higher education at The Ohio State University, graduating with an accounting degree. In the early sixties, Dick, Angie and their two daughters moved to Coshocton where for three decades, he dedicated his talents to Ansell-Edmont in Coshocton's finance department.

Dick was a member of The First Baptist Church in Coshocton where he served in several capacities: Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Church Intramural Basketball coach. He loved sports (Buckeyes, Browns and Indians); reading, especially WW11 history; fishing during family vacations in Michigan; his lifelong sport of golf--he scored a hole in one twice; riding his motorcycle through the hills around Coshocton; and comedies -- his uproarious laughter at slapstick is something all who know him remember with a smile.

Dick is survived by his daughters, Vicki James-Miller of New Albany, and Debbie (Michael) Paquette of Upton, MA, his cherished grandchildren, Emma (Joshua Gilbert) James and Fr. Peter (Lusine) James, his step-grandchild, Ashley Paquette, and his adored great-grandchildren, Will Gilbert, Sophia, and Irina James. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will forever hold dear memories of him.

He is now reunited with his beloved wife of 65 years, Angie, his parents, and his brothers, Dale and Robert Peters, who preceded him in passing.

Friends may gather at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton, on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Joe Sanders. Graveside services for Dick will be held at Grand Prairie Cemetery, 4964 Brush Ridge Dr. N, Marion, Ohio, on Saturday at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Joe Sanders leading and military honors befitting Dick.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the 1st Baptist Church of Coshocton, 618 Chestnut St., Coshocton, Ohio 43812, and/or the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Rd SW, Lilburn, GA 30047. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
