Raymond G. Wright, passed at Altercare with his daughter and grandson by his side on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
He was born February 17, 1930, in Coshocton, Ohio he was the son of Benson F. and Lottie Mae (Slaughter) Wright.
On December 28, 1954 He married the late Mary L. (Foster) Wright.
He was a 1948 graduate of Roscoe High School.
He was drafted into the Army in April 1951 and served in Germany during the Korean conflict as a mechanic. He was discharged in March of 1953.
Mr. Wright was the owner/operator of Wright's Sohio on the corner of 4th and Walnut Street for 25 years. He then worked for Muskingum Valley Lumber before retiring from ODOT in 1995.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 65 and the FOE.
Mr. Wright loved his family. He spent a lot of time watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren at their sporting events and other activities. He spent the last year of his life at his daughter's house surrounded by family, enjoying many family get-togethers and holidays.
Mr. Wright is survived by a sister in Law, Mary Ishmael of Coshocton, one brother in law, Richard Foster of Newark; son, R. Gregory Wright and wife Teresa of Warsaw; two daughters, Denise McPeak and husband John of Coshocton, and Susan Wright of West Palm Beach, Florida, and a son in law Denny Smailes of Coshocton; 11 grandchildren, Joshua Smailes of New Moscow, Devin Wegener of Uhrichesville, Brian Smailes of Kimbolton, Eric (Mikayla), Dillon and Alex McPeak (Taylor) of Coshocton, Cole (Molly) Wright of Warsaw, Callie (Evan) Wesney of Tennessee, bonus granddaughter Cona Thorpe, Marrah (Shokoy) Carter, Megan (Jeremy) Williams and Mya (Brian) Carter of Florida; 18 great grandchildren, Trevius, Talia and Gage Wegener, Karson, Londyn, Dekoda and Phoenix McPeak, Kole, Kase, Kinsley and Brenna Smailes, Benson and Lyvia Wright, Maelyn and Harlyn Wesney, Prince, Serenity and Jeremiah of Florida
Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his wife Mary who died April 17, 1996, his daughter Cheryl Smailes, who died October 6, 2021, 8 brothers, 3 sisters, and many other beloved family members.
Graveside services will be held at Coshocton County Memory Gardens on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 11:00am with Pastor Lloyd Tenney officiating with the Coshocton County Veterans Council performing Military honors.
