Michael K. Brannon passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025 at the age of 71 after years of fighting several, serious health conditions. Born on December 9th, 1953, Mike was a Coshocton native. He was the son of Paul Brannon and Ruth Wheeler. He has resided for the last seventeen years in Linden, North Carolina and just recently moved back to Coshocton, to be near his sisters, Kathy Roahrig, Dana Ross, and Chris Gilmore and daughter Caitlin Brannon who lives in Kentucky.
In his seventeen years in Linden, North Carolina he worked at Windsor Farm for the Garrett Family; Dr. Kenny and Pam Garrett (parents of Brian), Brian and Taryn Garrett, and their two daughters Brynn (13) and Brystol (8). Mike was the head horse trainer here, where he trained many champion horses, earning over twenty World Championship titles. While it was Mike's occupation, the Garrett's were also considered family to him. He was incredibly proud of Brynn and Brystol for their love of the horse and cared for these girls like his own.
Mike's daughter, Caitlin Brannon (25), continues in her fathers footsteps working in the horse industry. She takes pride in the talent her father had and hopes to possess all the qualities he had as a professional in the horse industry.
While Mike devoted a majority of his life to the horse industry, he also had a great love for bird dogs. He spent a lot of his free time hunting with his bird dogs and running them. He also had a great appreciation for motorcycles and owned several Harley Davidsons.
The best way to describe Mike was genuine. He was a genuine friend, father, brother, and professional. He was loved by all that knew him and well respected by many. No matter where he was, Mike always made a friend.
He is survived by his daughter Caitlin, sister and brother in laws, Kathy and Sam Roahrig, Dana and Pete Ross and Chris and Bob Gilmore, and previous wife, Phyllis Brannon, special nieces, nephews and cousins. He lives on in his extended family and friends who will also miss him dearly.
We find comfort in knowing Mike is at peace now and with the lord. His legacy will live on through his love he shared, lessons he taught, and friendship he gave.
A celebration of life for Mike will be held at a later date and will be announced once scheduled.
