Max Thornsley

Max R. Thornsley, 80, of Coshocton passed away on Friday June 13, 2025, at his home in Coshocton.

Max was born on January 26, 1945, to the late John R. and Eleanor Maxine (Aronholt) Thornsley.

He graduated from Three Rivers High School and served in the United States Army 25th Infantry Unit during Vietnam. Max had worked at Stone Container until the plant closed and then on to the Peabody Coal Company where he worked on the Little Muskie and retired after twenty years of service with the Ohio National Guard.

Max was a member of the Coshocton Eagles, Coshocton County Beagle Club and enjoyed spending time with his family, rabbit and raccoon hunting, fishing and riding horses.

Max is survived by his children Daniel “Dan” (Michelle) Thornsley of Coshocton and Valerie Thornsley of Coshocton; grandsons Logan and Dalton Thornsley of West Virginia and Max “Maxie” Thornsley of Coshocton; several nieces and nephews; faithful fur baby Bailey and special care givers for Max, Katie and Jayme.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Huguette H.J. “Gigi” Thornsley who passed away on June 21, 2024; his mother who raised him Judy Duncan and two brothers Raymond and David Kohl.

Friends may call on at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Thursday June 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the services on Friday. Funeral services for Max will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bill Jones officiating. Interment will follow in South Lawn Cemetery with Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard performing military honors.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard, 318 Main St., Coshocton, Ohio 43812; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
