Lawrence Vernon

Lawrence Bell Vernon, 90, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Danbury in Millersburg. He was born November 11, 1934 in Adamsville, Ohio to the late Harold Marion and Constance Evelyn (Bell) Vernon. On September 29, 1962, he married Mary Virginia (Flynn) Vernon, who preceded him in death in 2021.

Lawrence proudly served in the 3rd Infantry Division "The Old Guard" at Arlington National Cemetery during his time in the Army. Lawrence started his career as a repair technician at Ohio Bell/Ameritech in 1964 and continued until his retirement in 1994. He was a former Sunday School teacher and spent much time reading his Bible. In his free time, he enjoyed cutting grass, sitting in the breezeway enjoying nature, working in his woodshop, and learning about his family's genealogy. Lawrence loved to travel and was proud to have visited each of the fifty states. He was an avid basketball player; he loved to shoot hoops and even won several medals at the Polk Senior Games, Winter Haven FL. He was a lifelong baseball fan and loved to cheer on the Cincinnati Reds. He and his wife attended the Roscoe United Methodist Church.

Lawrence is survived by his children, Linda (Mark) Mirise of Coshocton, and Robin (Angie) Vernon of LaCrosse, IN; grandchildren, Kasey Croup, Kimberly Croup, Ashley Vernon, Natalie Vernon and Joshua Vernon.

Along with his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Bryce, Ralph, and Roy Vernon.

Calling hours will be at the Roscoe United Methodist Church on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 10am to 11am. The funeral service will begin at 11am with Pastor Bob Mitchell officiating. A fellowship meal will follow the service with burial following at Lull Cemetery in Adamsville.
