Karen "George" Shample, age 82, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Roscoe Gardens. She was born on December 14, 1943 in Coshocton to the late Raymond and Norma Jean (Thomas) Riley. She graduated from Coshocton High School. She ran on the EMS Squad in the 1970's and 1980's. She worked numerous places over the years including, Nemo's Pizza Shop, Anderson Silver Image, The Print Shop, Quality Farm-Fleet, and the Department of Job and Family Services all before retiring. She loved photography, crafts and watching her favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Kyle Busch. She made a connection with an owner of a hot air balloon at the local festival that would spark her fascination and curiosity of hot air balloons. She loved to take photos of them, collect pins, took rides and even helped as a chaser. Lastly, she loved her cats dearly and leaves behind, Muffy.
Karen is survived by her two sons, Jamie "Shamp" Shample of Coshocton and Mark "Frog" (Tonia) Shample of Arizona and special niece Kim (Stoke) Roof and sister, Debbie Riley-Dawson.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her sister, Nancy (Riley) Murray.
Special Thanks to Shriver's Hospice for their excellent care of Karen.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 3pm to 5pm. The funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 5pm with Pastor John Cadwell officiating. A cremation will take place following the service.
