Jerry Allen Green

Jerry Allen Green, 87, of Coshocton, passed away on July 31, 2026, at Roscoe Gardens of Coshocton. He was born on April 1, 1939, in Patterson, Ohio, to the late Harry and Juanita (Waxler) Green.

Jerry graduated from Forest High School and joined the United States Army in 1955, beginning active duty in 1957. He proudly served his country for 21 years before retiring as a Sergeant First Class. After returning home, he worked for Jones Oil Inc. for 21 years until retiring in 2001.

Even after retirement, Jerry continued serving others. He worked with Coshocton County Veterans Services and served on the Veterans Commission. He was a member of the Coshocton County Veterans Council and the Coshocton Honor Guard, a life member of the DAV and Coshocton County Vietnam Veterans, and also belonged to the American Legion, AMVETS, and Warsaw United Methodist Church.

Jerry was honored to take part in the 100th Honor Flight in 2019 and later served as a guardian on two Honor Flights for fellow veterans. As a member of the Coshocton Honor Guard, he participated in nearly 900 military funerals, helping give veterans the honors they had earned.

In his free time, Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at the rifle range. He and his wife, Marty, shared more than 20 years of traveling and making memories together. Above all, Jerry was a devoted husband who loved Marty deeply, and she will forever cherish the life they shared together.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn "Marty" (Cunningham) Green, which he married on November 15, 1959; son, Victor (Cathy Ann) Green; several nieces and nephews and their beloved dog, Daizee.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Paul, Max, Bill and Harry Green Jr. and sisters, Betty Green, Beulah McKee, Dorothy Snider, Jane Marshall, Patricia Petryka and Mary Humphrey.

Calling hours will be at The Miller Funeral Home on Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 12pm to 2pm. The funeral service will begin at 2pm with Pastor Carl Schaefer officiating. Military honors will be performed by the Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard. A cremation will follow the services and Jerry will be buried at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
