George (Brownie) Leach

July 22, 1949 — December 23, 2025

Coshocton

George Brown Leach, 76, of Coshocton, passed over peacefully on December 23, 2025, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on July 22, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late George Barnett and Mary Lucille (Brown) Leach of Wellston, Ohio. Embracing his mother’s maiden name, George was affectionately known throughout his life as “Brownie.”

Brownie grew up in Wellston, Ohio, and his father’s work took the family from Coshocton, Ohio, to Clinton, Missouri, then Greenville, Kentucky, before finally settling back in Coshocton. While in Kentucky, he attended Greenville Junior High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships. He later attended River View High School in Warsaw, Ohio, earning his GED in 1991—the same year his daughter Melissa graduated from high school.

Brownie worked alongside his father at Peabody Coal Company for 23 years as a prospect driller, working in Coshocton and Perry County, Ohio, until 1990. In 1991, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming an owner/operator truck driver, first with Mason Dixon Trucking and later with Trans Service. Even after retiring in 2011, his love of the road never faded. He continued to drive alongside his good friend John Stalder of Pearl Valley Cheese, where the two shared many memorable adventures delivering cheese together.

During retirement, Brownie discovered a passion for collecting and restoring antique Farmall tractors. His prized finds were a 1949 Farmall Cub and a 1949 Farmall Super A—both from the year he was born. His enthusiasm took him across many state lines in search of new models and parts, and he took great pride in bringing each tractor back to life. His very close friend Mark Aleshire was ever at his side helping him brainstorm on which project to work on next.

Brownie also enjoyed golfing and fishing. He cherished countless golf outings with his sons—Doug, Eric, and Jimmy—that were filled with laughter and good times. His favorite fishing destination was Lake Nipissing in Ontario, Canada, where year after year he made treasured memories and shared many tall tales.

Brownie was beloved by all that knew him.  His contagious sense of humor entertained whomever came in contact with him. He prided himself on knowing "something" about "everything".  He will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Lynn Leach; his children, Douglas Leach (Lorrissa Dunfee), Melissa Corwin (Steve Allen), Eric Leach (Suzanne Peçak), and James (Christie) Ireland; his grandchildren, Caitlyn (Brian) Daugherty and Andrew Corwin; and his sister, Nancy Leach. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Paul Leach (Katie Brodie).

Miller Funeral Home has performed the cremation with the ashes being distributed amongst the family. As per Brownie's request no services will be held.
