Eugene L Shingleton

Eugene Leroy Shingleton, 83, of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

He was born on September 19, 1942, in Coshocton, Ohio, to Leslie (Clark) Shingleton and Reba Virginia (Landis) Shingleton. He married Russlyn (Swails) Shingleton on March 16, 1972, and together they shared 53 years of marriage.

Eugene held many jobs over the years, including working at the St. Regis Paper Mill, driving school bus for Ridgewood, and working at Swails Import Auto. He later retired from Tuscarawas Township. Gene was known for his hard work, kindness, sense of humor, and willingness to help anyone in need. Outside of work, he enjoyed boating, hunting, and collecting many different things, and he loved riding and working on motorcycles, cars, and anything with a motor. Gene liked watching motocross, NASCAR, and drag racing, and he especially enjoyed attending truck and tractor pulls with his group of friends at the local fairs each year. Above all, Eugene loved spending time with his friends and family, and he especially cherished time with his grandkids. He always made sure his kids and grandkids had a motorcycle, four-wheeler, go-kart, moped, scooter, or some kind of motorized toy to enjoy when they visited. He would go anywhere or do anything to help his children when they needed him.

He is survived by his wife, Russlyn Shingleton; his children, Shelly (Gary) McCullough, Russell (Summer) Shingleton, and Matthew Shingleton; his grandchildren, Kelly (Robert) LeBourveau, Shawna Hains, Ashley (Trey) Adams-Mullet, Dylan Mullet, Aaron Shingleton, Owen Shingleton, Madalyn Shingleton, Jaxton Shingleton, Lilly Shingleton, Mckenzy Starr, James White, and Sarah Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Robert LeBourveau, James LeBourveau, Margaret LeBourveau, and Jaxon White; and his siblings, Kenneth Shingleton, Robert Shingleton, Ruth (Shingleton) Walker, and Norma Shingleton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Virginia; his daughter, Julie Shingleton; and his siblings, William Shingleton, James Shingleton, John Shingleton, Roy Shingleton, and Linda Shingleton.

Family and friends are invited to visit the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main Street, Coshocton, OH 43812 on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery in Coshocton.
