Erma Mizer

January 18, 1932 — August 3, 2025

Erma Mae (Ault) Mizer, 93, of Coshocton passed away to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Lafayette Nursing and Rehabilitation in West Lafayette. She was born in New Philadelphia, OH on January 18, 1932 to the late Carl Albert and Lena Mae (Fitch) Ault.

She attended Stone Creek High School for her first 10 years and graduated from Coshocton High School with the class of 1951. Erma worked for the Indianapolis Glove Factory, Shaw Barton, Yankee Wire, and over 31 years at Ohio Fabricators as a press operator; of which she retired May 1998. She was a life member of Post 2040 Auxiliary and later Auxiliary Post 1445 in New Philadelphia, OH, AMVETS Post 36, American Legion Post 63. She was the Auxiliary President of the VFW 2040 for two years and one year District #6 President and Auxiliary President for Military Order of the Cooties (which was an honor degree for 2 years), and District #3 President for 1 year. While She was a member of the Military Order of the Cooties, she was their clown "Lovie", who entertained in nursing homes, hospitals, and homes. She played Gospel music, harmonica, and told Christian jokes over much of Ohio from 1981- 2016. She also formed two bowling teams while president. Team #1 - the Angels and Team #2 Devils. They were on the Goodtime Gals Bowling League in Coshocton; she bowled on the team for many years.

Erma loved Gospel and Country Western music. She belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, of which she loved very dearly. She joined the church on January 18, 1998 and very seldom missed attending church, she really enjoyed attending the Temple in Columbus, when she could. Her favorite thing was her love for God the Father; his son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost.

Along with attending church, some of her favorite hobbies included raising and showing her Flemish Giant Rabbits all over the state of Ohio and several other states. She was a life member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association, and she earned her Rabbit Registers License and could register rabbits anywhere in the United States. She won over 100 Rabbit trophies.

She loved doing circle word puzzles, playing Euchre, Hausey, UNO, Farkle, and many other games. Erma enjoyed volunteering and calling BINGO for Autumn Healthcare and Whitewoman Health Care in Roscoe Village for many years. She loved her cat, Sweetie Pie.

Erma married Harold Ray Mizer on August 11, 1951; he passed away on November 10, 1961 and Thomas Eugene Freese on January 4, 1964; he passed on November 27, 1977.

Erma is survived by her daughter Trevenna "Sue" McDaniel of Alliance; grandchildren Brandon Gurza of Coshocton, Ryan (Regina Patterson) Gurza of Russell Point, OH, Christopher McDaniel of Alliance, OH; step granddaughter Vanessa (Augusto) Angulo of Cozumel, Mexico; great grandchildren Talia and Lucia Gurza, Kalel Gurza, Elana and Ravyn Mathias, William and Daniel Davis, and Valentina and Sebastian Angulo.

Along with her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by her two daughters, Connie Rae Confer of Colorado; she passed away August 9, 1995, and Rhonda Kay Bork of Indiana, she passed away April 9, 2015; grandson Wally Davis

Calling hours will be held at the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 920 Hill St, Coshocton, OH 43812 on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 11:00am - 1:00pm with funeral services beginning at 1:00pm with President Monte Higgins officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be directed towards St. Jude's Children's Cancer Hospital; Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
