Donald Lawrence

November 15, 1943 — September 11, 2025

Donald Lawrence, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 11, 2025. He was born on November 15, 1943, in Guernsey County, to Clayton Wesley and Hazel Marie (Smetts) Lawrence, where his roots were firmly planted, and he carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and kindness throughout his life.

Don's early career as a long-distance truck driver from 1965 to 1981 was just the beginning of an industrious journey. After retiring from his driving career, he, alongside his devoted wife Bobbi, embarked on the venture of owning and operating three companies: Shannon Truck Repair, By Dawn Transport, and Linda Leasing. Together, they ran these businesses from 1981 to 2002, showcasing not only their entrepreneurial spirit but also their unyielding commitment to hard work and family values.

Known for his quiet yet charming demeanor, Don had an infectious sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him. Friends and family will remember him as a hardworking, grateful, and loving man—a true testament to the faith he held in God. His personality was a blend of wit and warmth. He enjoyed and was fulfilled with each gathering of friends and family.

Don had an abiding passion for anything with wheels and chrome, including stock cars, tractors, trucks, and motorcycles. He took immense pride in the vehicles he owned, often seen polishing them to perfection. This dedication mirrored his approach to life and family. He was a man who not only handled his business with integrity but also took great care of his loved ones—his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were always at the forefront of his heart.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Bobbi Lawrence, whom he married on September 9, 1961. His daughters, Linda (Tom) Fisher of Leland, North Carolina, D. Cheree Nelson of Coshocton, and Shannon Lawrence of West Lafayette, will carry forth his legacy with grace. Don is also survived by his grandsons, Alex (Billy) Soriano, Michael (Sammi) Soriano, and Judah Nelson, along with his three cherished great-grandchildren, Alina, Nathan, and Juliana. His sister, Norma Norman and sister-in-law, Ruth Kistler and several nieces and nephews along with his special friend, Spinner.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert "Bob" Lawrence, who will forever remain in their hearts.

A memorial service honoring Don's life will be held on September 21, 2025, at 2pm at the Fresno Bible Church in Fresno, Ohio, where friends and family are invited to gather, reflect, and celebrate the remarkable man who touched so many lives.
