David Ogle McCoy

David Ogle McCoy, age 89, passed away on March 12, 2026 at the Truman Hospice House. He was born on November 2, 1936 in Coshocton to the late Lewis and Maxine (Ogle) McCoy. He was a high school graduate and a United States Army Veteran, proudly serving from 1959 to 1962. Upon returning to civilian life, David worked in maintenance at Shaw Barton for over 40 years. With his work in the military and at Shaw Barton, David grew to be a skilled mechanic. He could fix anything and was happy to help others when things needed fixed. He worked on the family farm where they raised beef cattle and grew straw and hay. Along with the cattle they also managed big gardens to grow fresh foods. Through his decades of hard work, David never complained; He was selfless and faithful to others. He had a passion for cars, owning several old Cadillacs and trucks. The time came for David to pass the farm along to his grandson Cody to keep it in the family. In his later years, the times were slower and the demand of work was less, David began to ride his bike all over town. He will be remembered for his loyalty, compassion and never giving up.

David is survived by his wife, Wilma (Croft) McCoy of 63 years; daughter, Danna Howell; grandchildren, Cody Howell and Darsey Howell; great grandchildren, Mason and Nova Howell; brother, Joe McCoy; nephew, Tom McCoy and 3 nieces as well as his Army Buddy, Conrad.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Tom McCoy and Army Buddies, Perkins and Moody.

A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Fairview Cemetery in Fresno at 1pm with Pastor John Bramley officiating. The Military Honor Guard will performing veteran services.
