David Brown

David Brown, 83, of Fresno passed away early Tuesday Morning, May 12, 2026.

Born September 2, 1942, he grew up in Newcomerstown, Ohio and was the son of the late Cecil and Gladys Brown of Newcomerstown, Ohio.

David worked at General Tire, Mineral Fiber, and AK Steel where he headed up their chemical quality and testing labs.

David and Jean (Wells) Brown recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, having been married on April 9, 1966. David was a longtime faithful member of the 1800 Chestnut Street, Church of Christ where he served as Elder and Deacon.

A dedicated mentor, David served as Cub Master for Pack 402 and Scoutmaster for Troop 405 from 1975 to 2005. Under his leadership, Troop 405 grew from five scouts to fifty, as he focused on developing young boys into future leaders and fathers. David was awarded Scouting's Silver Beaver in 1984 and was a Brotherhood Member of the Order of the Arrow.

A great husband, dad and grandfather, David will truly be missed by his wife Jean and son Scott (Denna) Brown of Gallatin, TN, daughter Julie (Butch) Smith of Fresno; four grandchildren Katie (Mariah) Smith Nye, Andrew Smith, Hayden (Laura Valentine) Brown, Hunter (Tori) Brown; sisters Georgina Meeks, Kathy Everhart, and Patty McClure; brother Donny Brown all of Newcomerstown, OH; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother Robert Brown.

Per David's wishes a cremation will take place and there will be no services.
