He was born August 4, 1933, in Roscoe, to Russell and Rachel (Clark) Hardesty. He graduated from Roscoe High School in 1951. Gordon proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956.

Gordon never knew a stranger-he was a friend to everyone he met. He was known for his quick wit, his ornery sense of humor, and his constant laughter. Gordon loved sports and could often be found cheering on his favorite teams, but above all, he cherished time spent with his family. His presence brought joy to those around him, and his warmth and humor left lasting memories for everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ruth A. Hardesty; his daughter, Christine Howell; caring grandchildren, Amber (Bart) Barringer, Ashley (Josh) Coffman, and Arica (Zachary) Mills; six great-grandchildren, Brody, Brooks, Jace, Allie, Chael, and Gatlin; his brother, Roger (Sue) Hardesty; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Kay Hardesty; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Clarence Darr; nephew, Randy Hardesty and several aunts and uncles.

Gordon was a member of the Coshocton Eagles Aerie #761, the Coshocton Elks #376, and the Moose Lodge #935.Per his wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriver's Hospice Foundation, PO Box 343, Zanesville, OH 43702.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
