Carol M. Guthrie, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at Roscoe Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation on Monday, February 2, 2026 at the age of 89. Carol was born on August 10, 1936, in Ohio to the late Guy H. and Minnie (Randles) Brillhart.
Carol graduated from Roscoe High School in 1954 and pursued her passion for caring for others by graduating from the Central School of Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1957. Her nursing career began at University Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic, where she provided exceptional care for many years. Most notably, Carol dedicated 20 years of her life to Coshocton County Memorial Hospital, where her kindness and dedication touched countless lives.
Carol was a devoted nurse, dedicating many years of her life to caring for others at the University Hospital, Cleveland Clinic and Coshocton County Memorial Hospital. Her compassion and dedication not only made a significant impact on her patients but also reflected the love and nurturing spirit she brought to her family. She was a proud member of Shepler Church, where she found community and spiritual nourishment, and previously attended Branch Church.
Creativity was a hallmark of Carol's life. As a member of the Coshocton Canal Quilters, she shared her passion for crafting, earning several ribbons at the county fair for her sewing and baking skills. Carol's joyful spirit shone through in the countless quilts she lovingly made, each one gifted to her grandchildren upon their graduation-special treasures infused with her love.
Family was everything to Carol. She cherished cooking and baking for family gatherings, creating not just delicious meals but cherished memories that will be carried on by her loved ones.
On May 28, 1977, Carol married her soulmate, Jack Guthrie. Together, they built a loving home and a beautiful life, standing by each other's side until his passing in 2021. Carol cherished her family deeply and is survived by her loving children: Cindy (Ed) French of Quinlan, Texas; Roger (Kris) Boatman of Coshocton; Debra (Terry) Bevins of West Lafayette; and Sheila Krasky of Coshocton. She was a proud grandmother to numerous grandchildren, including Jennifer (Barron) Carpenter, Tina Westmoreland, Mandy (Jason) Todd, Gary French, Adam French, Daniel French, Jamie (Tony) Darr, Missy (Tim) Mossman, Ryan (Nena) Boatman, Matthew (Meghan) Krasky, Brian (Stephanie) Krasky, and Angela Krasky. Her legacy continues with 20 great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
Carol is remembered fondly by her surviving sister, Joyce (John) Fry; and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Jack, brothers Klines and Harold Brillhart, sisters Iola Thomas and Esther Elson; granddaughter Nikki Boatman; and son-in-law Roy Krasky.
Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 11:00am - 1:00pm with funeral services beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor Tim Dickerson officiating. Interment will follow in Shepler Church Cemetery.
