John Darling Obituary

John Henry Darling, 75, of Coshocton went to his heavenly home Tuesday, February 20, 2018 peacefully in his sleep.

John was born in Coshocton, Ohio on April 27, 1942 to the late Lavida (Bodenheimer) McGrevey and John Darling II.  He graduated from Conesville High School and obtained a business degree from Newark Business College.

John was married to Martha “Marty” (Hughes) Darling on January 15, 1973. They were married for 45 years.

John worked at Edmont Glove Factory for over 40 years; first in payroll and then as a materials scheduler.  He retired in 2005.  After retirement he worked part time at Ohio Heritage Bank. He was an avid sports fan, running chains for River View High School football games for a number of years.  John enjoyed being with family and friends, playing cards, reading on his kindle, cuddling with his two Shih Tzu’s, Cookie and Noel, and watching anything related to sports.  He also coached soccer when it was first established in Coshocton.

He is survived by his two children Michele (Bud) Dallas of Mt. Vernon and Matthew Darling of Coshocton; grandchildren Taylor and Kaitlin Dallas; and great granddaughter, Blaire Quillen, who was the brightest and most beautiful child in her grandpa’s eyes; sister Kelly (Dan) Shrimplin of Warsaw; brother Gary (Shelly) Darling of Fresno; a special sister-in-law Penny Krebs and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lavida McGrevey, John Darling II, and Paul McGrevey, who lovingly raised John; and his brother Tom Darling.
