Ruth Katherine McElroy, 97, of West Lafayette passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at her home. She was born in Dover, Ohio on November 28, 1920 to the late Jesse and Ella (Kelley) Lenarz.
On September 17, 1952 she married Rev. H. Dean McElroy, whom passed away July 12, 2010. Together they served many churches and touched many lives.
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Rebecca Terrell of Florida, Carolyn Barr of Coshocton, and Janie (Mike) Layton of West Lafayette; five grandchildren, Michael Williams, Tiffany (Wesley) Shook, Sean (Laura) Bordenkircher, Craig (Kendra) Bordenkircher, and Courtney Layton; four great-grandchildren, Jordan and Landon Williams, Teagan Bordenkircher, Owen Siegel, and one great granddaughter, Lennox Ruth Bordenkircher, arriving in April; three sisters Norma Miller of New Philadelphia, Barbara Booth of Victoria, TX, Bernie ( Glen) Slaven of Houston, TX; one brother-in-law Darl McElroy of Wintersville; numerous nieces, nephews, step children, and step grandchildren.
Along with her husband and parents she is preceded in death by three sisters; two brothers; three brother-in-laws; and five sister-in-laws; and a very special aunt and uncle Bill and Edna Kelley.
Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton, Ohio 43812 on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm and one hour prior to the funeral services. Funeral services for Ruth will be held Tuesday at 1:00pm with Pastor Dan Eggan officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery, West Lafayette. In lieu of flowers contributions can be directed towards West Lafayette united Methodist Church, 120 West Union Avenue, West Lafayette, OH 43845 envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
