Irene Pearl (Honabarger) Scherer, died peacefully in her home on July 30, 2017, she was 98 years old. She was born near Bakersville, Ohio on April 26, 1919 to the late Edward and Elizabeth (Bock) Honabarger.
On October 29, 1941 she married Melvin R. Scherer who preceded her in death on October 12, 2014. Irene is survived by her beloved daughter Sandra K. Scherer.
Along with her parents and husband, Irene is preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Edward, and Ernest Honabarger and sisters, Mary Ott, Florence Mullett, and Elizabeth Honabarger.
Irene was a member of the Renner’s St. Paul United Church of Christ. In keeping with Irene’s wishes there will be a graveside service held at Renner’s Cemetery, 7620 Renner Rd. SW, Fresno, Ohio 43824 on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 11:00am with Rev. Jim Henninger officiating. Following interment there will be a luncheon held at the church, provided by the Women’s Guild, for some time of food and fellowship.
The family wishes to thank Pam Hamilton, Tiffany Samson, and Bob and Candy Scherer for all of their care and support for Irene, Melvin and Sandy over the last few years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed towards Renner’s Church Cemetery Fund and/or Genesis Hospice of Zanesville.
