Gary "Joe" Stokes Obituary

Gary “Joe” L. Stokes, 73, of Coshocton passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at his home.  He was born in Coshocton on January 1, 1945 to the late Abe and Nancy (Mounts) Stokes.

He worked as a coal miner for most of his life and later worked for the Coshocton Tribune.

Gary is survived by his wife, Linda (Guthrie) Stokes, whom he married October 10, 1992; children Robert (Carmen) Stokes of Coshocton, Kim (Shannon) Roof of Fresno, Jodi (Todd) Maziar of Pataskala, Michael Stokes of West Lafayette, and Anthony (Sandra) Stokes of West Lafayette; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; one sister, Jean (John) Miller of Fresno; several nieces and nephews;  and he enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Izik Dean.

Along with his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his sister Paulette Sturtz and nephew big John Sturtz.

Per Gary’s wishes a cremation will take place with no calling hours or funeral services.
